Eurozone Schedule of Events

  • Greek PM Papandreou and EU President Barroso met in Greece Wednesday with no statements.
  • Merkel and Sarkozy are meeting Wednesday night in Berlin. They have in the past spoken to the press afterwards, but the word so far has been that they will wait until Thursday to give statements.
  • Eurozone finance officials were meant to meet Wednesday, but that meeting was delayed to Thursday morning, so they could await marching orders from the Sarkozy-Merkel discussion.
  • The ultimate meeting is then the summit of Eurozone leaders which follows at 12.45-15.:45CET, which is a 1 hour delay from the original schedule. European Commission President Barroso and European Council President Rompuy will then give a statement as to the results once the meeting ends, and national leaders will also have the option of speaking to the press.
